For 12 years, ACKC has been advocating for increased federal funding for kidney cancer research, and this year we have finally had a major breakthrough. The House of Representatives included a $10 million line-item for kidney cancer research in the Defense Appropriations Bill for 2017. $10 million is almost 25% of the NCI’s entire annual budget for kidney cancer research, and, if passed, would represent a significant increase in the federal kidney cancer research budget.
This summer and fall, ACKC will be putting all of our efforts and resources into Campaign Breakthrough to get the $10 million line-item passed by Congress and enacted into law.
