{"id":4568,"date":"2018-03-29T14:11:52","date_gmt":"2018-03-29T18:11:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ackc.org\/?p=4568"},"modified":"2018-03-31T14:47:07","modified_gmt":"2018-03-31T18:47:07","slug":"50-increase-in-kidney-cancer-federal-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ackc.org\/jayedit\/50-increase-in-kidney-cancer-federal-funding\/","title":{"rendered":"50% Increase in Kidney Cancer Federal Funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Trump signed the Fiscal Year 2018 $1.3 trillion Omnibus Appropriation Bill, which contains 2<sup>nd<\/sup> year funding for the Kidney Cancer Research Program (KCRP) in the amount of $15 million, a $5 million increase over last year\u2019s spending bill. KCRP is part of the Department of Defense\u2019s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs and was originally the result of intensive advocacy efforts by Action to Cure Kidney Cancer.<\/p>\n<p>This increase is great news for kidney cancer patients and their families for, as we know, metastatic kidney cancer is still an incurable disease, and we need the development of effective therapies to lessen the pain and suffering of those affected by the disease.<\/p>\n<p>This year, several kidney cancer advocacy organizations as well as the American Urological Association, the Society of Urologic Oncology, and the American Association of Clinical Urologists, have joined with us in asking for an increase in next year\u2019s budget to $20 million.<\/p>\n<p>Please support ACKC in our efforts to realize the research funding necessary to conquer kidney cancer!
